Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)

Is that even legal?

You wouldn’t be the first to ask. And yes, it is.

What is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)?

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a holistic modality in which ketamine is used as a complement to psychotherapy to help eligible patients experience more frequent breakthroughs and sustained improvement in symptoms. I take on the psychotherapy portion of the experience, while my partnering medical team at Journey Clinical supports you on all medical aspects. This includes determining eligibility, developing a custom treatment plan, prescribing the medicine and monitoring outcomes.

Winding mountain road at sunrise, lush green hills on either side, bright sunlight shining over the landscape.

The only journey, is the journey within.

A blister pack of ten round white pills arranged in two rows on a white surface.

Perhaps the longest journey is only 18 inches…

from head,

to heart.

What is Ketamine?

Ketamine is a legal, safe and effective medicine used to treat a variety of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety and PTSD.  Ketamine has rapidly-acting antidepressant and mood-enhancing effects, which can begin to take effect within 1-2 hrs. after treatment and last for up to 2 weeks.  It works by blocking the brain’s NMDA receptors as well as by stimulating AMPA receptors, which are thought to help form new synaptic connections and boost neural circuits that regulate stress and mood.  Ketamine has also been shown to enhance overall neuroplasticity for lasting symptom improvement.

Is it safe?

In my practice, Ketamine is prescribed and overseen by a licensed medical provider, while I serve as the psychotherapist guiding you through preparation, in-session support, and integration. As part of a collaborative team, we uphold the highest safety standards through rigorous assessments, clear protocols, and ongoing monitoring. Ketamine has been shown to positively impact neuroplasticity and brain function, offering unique benefits for individuals experiencing trauma, treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, anxiety, and more. Through safe use of medicine and intentional therapeutic integration, KAP has proven a powerful pathway toward healing and lasting change for many.
